What is the difference between Gallic and Schisandra chinensis

Many people tend to confuse gallnut and Schisandra chinensis, but in fact they are not the same organism, and their efficacy and value are also different. 1. Biologically speaking, Schisandra chinensis and Galla chinensis belong to different families. The dried ripe fruit of Schisandra chinensis. The former is commonly known as "Northern Schisandra" and the latter is commonly known as "Southern Schisandra". The fruits are picked when they are ripe in autumn, dried in the sun or steamed and then dried in the sun, and the stems and impurities are removed. Tang et al.'s "Newly Revised Materia Medica" records that "the skin and flesh of Schisandra chinensis are sweet and sour, the core is bitter and spicy, and both have salty taste", so it is named Schisandra chinensis. Schisandra chinensis is divided into two types: southern and northern. Ancient medical books call it Xuanji, Huiji, and it was first listed as a top-grade Chinese medicine in Shennong's Herbal Classic. It can nourish and strengthen the body, has extremely high medicinal value, and has the effect of strengthening the body. It is used together with Qiongzhen Ganoderma to treat insomnia.

2. The scientific name of Galla chinensis, also known as Bai Chong Cang, Bai Yao Jian, and Galla chinensis, is the female horned aphid or egg aphid of the Aphididae family of the Homoptera order. It parasitizes on the tender leaves or petioles of the Rhus chinensis plant "Rhus chinensis" and other plants of the same genus in the Anacardiaceae family. It pierces the leaves and forms a sac-like polybiotic gall, which is obtained after being dried. In addition, gallnut is also a medicinal material that can treat a variety of diseases.

3. Schisandra chinensis is the mature fruit of the Magnoliaceae plant Schisandra chinensis. Its effects are: astringent, invigorating Qi and promoting body fluid, nourishing the kidney and calming the mind. Gallnut is a gall on the leaves of Rhus chinensis and Populus chinensis of the Anacardiaceae family. It has the following effects: astringing the lungs and reducing fire, relieving cough and sweating, astringing the intestines and stopping diarrhea, consolidating semen and stopping nocturnal emission, astringing and stopping bleeding, and absorbing moisture and healing sores. It can also be antibacterial: in vitro tests have obvious antibacterial or bactericidal effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, as well as typhoid, paratyphoid, dysentery, anthrax, diphtheria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.
