[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Swertia guizhouensis, a plant of the Gentianaceae family.

[Original form] Annual herb, 30-60cm tall. The taproot is obvious. The stem is erect, relatively slender, quadrangular, with narrow wings on the ridges, many branches, and spreading. Leaves are opposite; sessile or almost sessile to short-petiolated; leaf blades are lanceolate, 2-3m long or up to 5cm, up to 1.5m wide, gradually narrowing at both ends; leaf veins 1-3, with obvious protrusions on the underside. The inflorescence is paniculate, with many flowers, spreading; the pedicels are erect, quadrangular, 1-2cm long, and can be extended to 6.5cm when fruiting; the flowers are mostly 4 in number, and only the flowers on the upper side of the branches are 5 in number, with a diameter of up to 1cm; the flowers are green, leaf-like, and the lobes are linear-lanceolate; the corolla is yellow-white or yellow-green, the lobes are elliptical or ovate-elliptical, 6-12mm long, with long pointed heads, and there are 2 glandular crypts on the stem, the glandular crypts are narrowly elliptical, grooved, and have sparse hairy tassels on the edges; there are 4-5 stamens, the filaments are linear, up to 8mm long, and the anthers are blue; the chamber is sessile, ovate-lanceolate, the style is short and inconspicuous, and the stigma is 2-lobed. Capsule is oval, 1-1.3cm long. There are many seeds, yellowish brown, spherical, about 8mm long, and nearly smooth on the surface. The flowering period is August-September, and the fruiting period is September-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on river banks, grass slopes, wastelands and roadsides at an altitude of 750-1600m.
