Pharmacological Action

⑴ Antibacterial effect: The injection of this product has a strong bactericidal effect on resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus and hemolytic Streptococcus in test tubes. It also has a certain bactericidal effect on Pneumococcus, meningococcus, diphtheria bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi and catarrhalis. The alcohol extract of this product at a concentration of 1:400 can inhibit tuberculosis bacteria, but the decoction at a concentration of 1:100 is ineffective. Its 1:80 water decoction can delay the cytopathic effect of ECHO11 virus, and its alcohol extract (31 mg/kg) can kill Leptospira and also has an inhibitory effect on certain fungi. ⑶ Anti-tumor effect: The polysaccharide (Tof-CFr) extracted from medicinal dandelion was administered ip at 40, 2, and 600 mg/kg to C3H mice inoculated with MM46 tumor cells. No effect was observed in the early stage of administration, but it was effective when administered every other day at the later stages of 11 to 20 days and 2 to 20 days. In the delayed hypersensitivity reaction (T-DHR) of tumor cells, the plantar response of Tof-CFr in the late administration was significantly increased compared with the control group in both the ddy-Ehrlich (same tumor) line and the C3H-MM46 (same tumor) line. In the ADMC system, Tof-CFr has a stronger activation ability than glycogen, which is known to activate macrophages. [5]

⑷ Choleretic effect: Foreign studies have shown that this product has a choleretic effect and is clinically effective in treating chronic gallbladder spasm and gallstones. In addition, this product has diuretic, stomachic and mild laxative effects.
