A tree changed the world, and the effect is amazing

If there is a tree that changed the world, among the many trees, the one that has the most say is probably the mulberry tree. Because the leaves of the mulberry tree can be used to raise silkworms, and the silk can be woven into silk, the Silk Road came into being. The Silk Road changed the world as early as in ancient times. In fact, the mulberry tree is very low-key and has been silently contributing to human health.

Every time I see a mulberry tree, I have a different feeling. We say that the mulberry tree is full of treasures, which is really true. Take mulberry leaves for example, no matter whether the leaves are tender or withered, they are loved by people. Speaking of mulberries, they were a royal tonic used by ancient emperors and are also very popular among the people, and are also known as the "folk holy fruit."

In spring, when mulberry leaves are tender, they are the favorite of silkworms. Therefore, silkworm farmers in the south of the Yangtze River have to pick fresh mulberry leaves every day to feed their silkworms in exchange for silk brocade on their clothes. In spring, "the sun rises in the southeast corner" and women pick mulberry leaves on the trees. "Luofu is good at silkworms and mulberry leaves, and picks mulberry leaves in the south corner of the city." In autumn, it is a beautiful sight to see women picking frost-covered mulberry leaves under the trees.

Mulberry leaves are not only the favorite of silkworms, but also a good product for Chinese medicine practitioners. It has long been recorded in medical books that mulberry leaves "taste sweet and bitter; are cold in nature. They enter the lung and liver meridians." They can "dispel wind-heat, clear the lungs and moisten dryness, calm liver yang, clear the liver and improve eyesight, cool blood and stop bleeding." Generally speaking, when using mulberry leaves as medicine, the best leaves are those that have been frosted in late autumn, which are called frosted mulberry leaves in prescriptions.

After mulberry leaves are boiled in water, they have a peculiar fragrance and can also dispel wind, improve eyesight and darken hair. They are the favorite of the Empress Dowager Cixi. Reading the medical records of the Qing Dynasty, it is common to use mulberry leaves with chrysanthemum and other medicines, decocted into a soup for internal and external use, to treat headaches and hair loss. In the late Qing Dynasty, the government was so corrupt that it was difficult to reverse the situation. It was definitely not something that Cixi could save alone. To outsiders, Karl Lagerfeld may seem to "eat more than a hundred dishes at a time", but he cannot tell or let others know about his inner anxiety. Therefore, the empress dowager, who had a glamorous appearance, would often suffer from headaches. Moreover, Cixi was born with black hair, and she took great care of her hair. According to the records of Princess Der Ling in the late Qing Dynasty, Cixi still had beautiful hair in her later years, which was very enviable. This may be due to the frequent use of mulberry leaves.

Modern people have mobile phones and televisions, which often strain their eyes and keep them in a state of fatigue for a long time. Washing with mulberry leaves decoction can relieve the symptoms. I guess some famous Chinese medicine expert once talked about this festival on TV. Therefore, whenever the autumn wind blows, you can see many old ladies bending over to pick mulberry leaves under the mulberry trees. This can also be considered an autumn scene.

Mulberry leaves are also very flexible in clinical compatibility. Generally speaking, mulberry leaves are traditionally used together with chrysanthemums, such as mulberry and chrysanthemum drink, which can treat wind-heat colds. Or it can be made into pills with black sesame seeds, called Sang Ma Pills, to treat blurred vision, dizziness and blurred vision caused by liver yin deficiency. Alternatively, mulberry leaves can be roasted with honey and used to treat dry cough.

Mulberry leaves not only have economic value in raising silkworms, but also have medical value in curing diseases and saving lives, and even more so in preventing diseases and maintaining health. There are also clever people who add the tender shoots of mulberry leaves into cooking, which also tastes delicious. But if you make mulberry leaves into tea and drink a few cups a day, it can clear the heat from the liver and lungs and produce saliva under the tongue. It is simple and natural.
