I remember there was a Chinese idiom in the past, which goes "Eggplant hit by frost - withered." We all know that after being hit by frost, eggplants are no longer plump, a bit like the wrinkles on an old man's face. Therefore, later people often used "like an eggplant hit by frost" to describe a person's bad mental state. But what’s interesting is that there is something that does not depreciate after being hit by frost, but appreciates instead. So, what exactly is this thing? It is a leaf that changed the world. Why do we say it changed the world? Because it is the best food for silkworms, and the silk produced by silkworms can be made into high-quality silk, and the ancient Silk Road is closely related to silk. So, these extremely ordinary leaves can achieve such great success. So who is it? I believe there is no need to explain in detail, everyone knows that it is mulberry leaf. Mulberry leaves are the leaves of small trees or shrubs of the Moraceae family. They are usually harvested after the first frost, and after impurities are removed and dried, they can be used as medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that mulberry leaves are bitter and sweet and cold in nature. They have the effects of dispersing wind-heat, clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, calming the liver and improving eyesight. They are suitable for wind-heat colds, lung heat and dry coughs, dizziness and headaches, red and blurred eyes, etc. Generally, 6 to 10 grams of mulberry leaves can be taken orally in decoction, and it can also be made into pills or powders. If used externally, you can take an appropriate amount of mulberry leaves and boil them in water for washing or mashing and applying to the affected area. It is forbidden for those with dry liver. When frosted mulberry leaves are used clinically, they have a wide range of effects. For example, they are used to treat wind-heat colds, headaches, coughs and other symptoms. Because frosted mulberry leaves are sweet, cold and light in nature, they have a light, clearing and dispersing effect. They are good at cooling and dispersing wind-heat, and can clear the lungs and relieve coughs. Therefore, they are often used to treat fever, headaches, coughs and other symptoms caused by wind-heat colds or the initial stage of febrile diseases, when febrile evil invades the lungs, such as Sangxing Decoction. Frosted mulberry leaves are also often used for lung heat and cough, because frosted mulberry leaves are bitter and cold to drain the lungs, sweet and cold to nourish yin, and cool and moisten the lungs. It has a three-pronged approach and is especially suitable for symptoms such as dryness and heat damaging the lungs, dry cough and little sputum. If the symptoms are mild, Sangxing Decoction can be used; if the symptoms are severe, Qingzao Jiufei Decoction can be used. Frosted mulberry leaves can also treat dizziness and other symptoms caused by various reasons. If the headache and dizziness are caused by hyperactivity of liver yang, it can be used in combination with medicines such as chrysanthemum and semen cassiae; if the dizziness, red and painful eyes, and tears are caused by wind-heat in the liver meridian and liver fire, it can be used in combination with medicines such as chrysanthemum and prunella vulgaris; if the blurred vision is caused by insufficient liver yin, it can be used in combination with black sesame. In fact, the effects of mulberry leaves are far more than that. As early as in the book "Bencao Beiyao", it was clearly recorded that mulberry leaves have the effect of cooling blood. For example, for wounds caused by knives and axes, frosted mulberry leaves can be ground into fine powder and applied to the affected area. It is believed that mulberry leaves have the effect of drying dampness, dispelling wind and improving eyesight. Washing eyes with frosted mulberry leaves decoction can remove wind tears, and washing hands and feet can remove rheumatism. Black sesame honey pills can remove dampness and wind, darken the beard and improve eyesight; grinding into powder and swallowing it can stop night sweats, and drinking it instead of tea can stop thirst. |
