Can Schisandra chinensis nourish the kidneys?

When it comes to tonifying the kidneys, in fact, many Chinese medicinal materials in life can achieve relatively good effects, and Chinese medicines have relatively few side effects when used to tonify the kidneys. Schisandra chinensis actually has a very good effect in helping to tonify the kidneys and protect the liver, but it should be noted that if you want to better play these roles, you still need to pay attention to the combination of other medicinal materials. The following will introduce some specific recipes for Schisandra chinensis to tonify the kidneys.

1. Pharmacological research of Schisandra chinensis

The main components of Schisandra chinensis are schisandrin, etc., and its pharmacological effects are: 1. Protect liver and detoxify; 2. Relieve cough and eliminate phlegm; 3. Excite and inhibit the central nervous system, promote the balance between the two, improve people's intellectual activities, enhance work ability, and facilitate the recovery of neurasthenia; 4. Has significant pressor effect; 5. It has an "adaptogen" effect when used together with ginseng; 6. Can enhance the body's immune function. From this we can see that Huang Gongxiu of the Qing Dynasty called Schisandra chinensis "an important medicine for protecting the lungs and nourishing the kidneys", which is somewhat limited, and one should also add "an important medicine for strengthening the heart and protecting the liver."

2. Schisandra chinensis medicinal diet

1. Schisandra wine: 60 grams each of Schisandra chinensis and Ligustrum lucidum, 30 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, and 250 ml of wine, put them into a porcelain bottle and soak for 1 week. Take it once at 5 pm and again at 8 pm daily, 1 small cup each time. It is mainly used to treat neurasthenia.

2. Schisandra tea: 10 grams of Schisandra chinensis, 5 grams of Sophora flavescens, and 3 grams of American ginseng. Add the three ingredients to water and boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the residue and take the liquid. Add appropriate amount of sugar and drink it instead of tea. This tea is suitable for cough, chest tightness, thirst without desire to drink, fatigue and poor appetite caused by damage to both lung qi and yin and inability of kidney water to flow upward.

3. Schisandra, Jujube and Ginseng Soup: 5 grams of Schisandra, 3 grams of American ginseng, and 10 jujubes (pitted). First put Schisandra chinensis and jujube into a casserole, add water and boil for 1 hour, then filter the soup; boil American ginseng separately to obtain juice; then mix the two juices evenly and add appropriate amount of brown sugar. This soup has the effects of nourishing qi and yin, calming the mind and tranquilizing the nerves, and promoting sweating and producing body fluid. It is used to nourish women during menopause, and can also be used as a health drink for the elderly and consumed every day.
