Leaves are alternate and spirally arranged; the petiole is 2-3cm long and narrowly winged, and the leaves above the middle have short petioles or are sessile; the leaf blade is elliptic-lanceolate, 6-12cm long, 2-3.5cm wide, with acuminate tip, gradually narrowing base, wavy margins or irregular crenates, and densely covered with short soft hairs on both sides. Flowers are solitary in the axils of bracts at the top of the stem, forming a raceme, the inflorescence is 10-30cm long, and the flowers are relatively small; bracts are leaf-like, the lower ones are several times longer than the flowers, and the top ones are sometimes shorter than the flowers; pedicels are densely pubescent; calyx tube is short and oblong, with lobes linear-lanceolate, 6-8mm long, densely pubescent, and often reflexed in the early stage; corolla is purple-red to blue-purple, the lobes of the upper lip are linear, and the lobes of the lower part are ovate-lanceolate, spreading outward; anthers only have the lower two anthers with pen-like beards at the tips. The capsule is short columnar, flat at the base and concave in the center. Seeds elliptical, slightly flattened. Flowering and fruiting period is August to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillside grasslands, algae thickets or bamboo forest edges at an altitude of 200-36100m.
