What are the effects and functions of Toosendan seeds?

Many of my friends may not have heard of Toosendan seeds. In fact, it is the fruit of a tree, mainly produced in the south. The ones produced in Sichuan are of the best quality, so it is called Toosendan seeds. Toosendan has the effects of promoting qi and relieving pain, inhibiting bacteria and expelling parasites. People with weak stomachs and cold intestines should take it with caution.

Toosendan fruit efficacy and function:

1. Promote qi circulation and relieve pain.

2. Antiparasitic effect. In vitro tests have shown that it has a killing effect on Ascaris suum. However, its antiparasitic effect in clinical applications is not as good as that of Toosendan bark.

3. Anti-fungal. In vitro tests showed an inhibitory effect against Trichophyton ferrugide. The alcohol extract of Toosendan fruit has a strong inhibitory effect on Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans (the antibacterial effect of water extract and decoction is weaker).

Preparation: chop into pieces and use raw.

Nature and flavor: bitter, cold, slightly toxic.

Meridians: Enter the heart, liver, small intestine, and bladder meridians.

Function: Clears liver fire, eliminates dampness and heat, relieves pain, and kills insects.

Indications: Heat syndrome, abdominal pain, flank pain, hernia, worm infestation, etc. The ointment can be applied externally to treat baldness.

Clinical application: It is a commonly used medicine for treating various febrile abdominal pains. The analgesic effect is relatively reliable.

1. Used to treat abdominal pain and flank pain caused by liver qi stagnation and excessive liver and gallbladder fire. The pain is characterized by distending pain and dull pain, which comes and goes, and is accompanied by irritability, poor sleep, poor appetite, red tongue, and rapid pulse. It is more common in chronic hepatitis, especially pain in the liver area, and it is more suitable for those who feel heat in the painful area. At this time, Chuanlianzi has the effect of relieving liver heat, relieving depression and relieving pain. It is often used together with Corydalis yanhusuo in equal parts, that is, Jinlingzi powder, or Chuanlianzi can be added to the prescription for soothing the liver and harmonizing the stomach. In terms of relieving liver depression and side pain, Toosendan seed is better than Citrus aurantium.

2. Used to treat hernia pain. For local pain caused by testicular hydrocele, epididymitis, small intestinal hernia, etc., which is pulled to the navel and abdomen, it is often used together with Evodia rutaecarpa, fennel, etc., such as Daoqi Decoction.
