What are the effects of Amomum villosum?

In daily life, if we understand some common Chinese herbal medicines, it can not only help us quickly treat some common diseases, but also help us regulate our bodies. Reduce the harm caused by drugs to the body and enhance one's own immunity. Amomum villosum is a common medicine in our daily life. So what are the effects of Amomum villosum?

It can eliminate dampness and stimulate appetite, warm the spleen and stop diarrhea, regulate Qi and stabilize pregnancy. It is used for dampness and turbidity blocking the middle part of the body, abdominal distension without hunger, spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, vomiting and diarrhea, nausea during pregnancy, and fetal movement disorder. Amomum villosum has sweet, sour, bitter, spicy and salty tastes, and its flowers, fruits, roots, stems and leaves can all be used as medicine. Since the Tang Dynasty, there have been records about Amomum villosum in the medical books of all dynasties. The Kaibao Materia Medica, Compendium of Materia Medica and related dictionaries say: "Amomum villosum, a plant of the ginger family, is warm in nature and pungent in taste. It has the functions of promoting qi and harmonizing qi, soothing the stomach and invigorating the spleen. It is mainly used to treat chest and abdominal distension, gastric stagnation, choking and vomiting."

For symptoms such as loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea caused by dampness blocking the spleen and stomach, it is often used together with Atractylodes macrocephala and Tangerine peel; for spleen and stomach qi stagnation, abdominal distension, it is often used together with Tangerine peel, Magnolia bark, Costus root, etc.; for spleen deficiency and qi stagnation, it can be used together with Codonopsis pilosula and Atractylodes macrocephala. It is used for abdominal pain and diarrhea caused by spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, and is often used together with dried ginger, cooked aconite, tangerine peel, etc. which can warm the middle and dispel cold. For the treatment of fetal movement disorder, it is often used together with Atractylodes macrocephala, Sophora flavescens, etc.; for the treatment of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, it can be used together with Pinellia ternata, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, etc.

I believe that many people who don’t know much about toothbrushing have already gained a certain understanding of the medicinal effects of Amomum villosum through the above explanation. If we encounter some minor adverse symptoms in our daily life, we can use Amomum villosum to treat them appropriately, but if the symptoms are very obvious, we need to go to the hospital for treatment.
