State Administration for Market Regulation: More than 1/5 of products sold online are of substandard quality, and the TV rollover rate is as high as 72.3%

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation disclosed the results of two rounds of national supervision and random inspections on the quality of online products. The inspections involved multiple mainstream platforms such as Tmall, JD.com, Pinduoduo, Douyin, Taobao, Vipshop, Suning.com, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Xiaomi Youpin, and Dewu. A total of 4,415 batches of products were sampled, involving 4,210 production units, and 998 batches of unqualified products were found, with an unqualified rate of up to 22.6%.

Among the unqualified products, there were 295 batches of household appliances that were unqualified, accounting for 29.6% of all unqualified products. Among them, electronic door locks, color TVs, storage electric water heaters and refrigerators had the largest number of unqualified products, reaching 57 batches, 47 batches, 45 batches and 37 batches respectively.

In terms of the unqualified rate of a single product, televisions had the highest rate. A total of 65 batches of color TV products were sampled, of which 47 batches failed, with an unqualified rate of 72.3%.

Many of these are safety issues and energy efficiency issues caused by unqualified insulation of the product's antenna terminals. In addition to easily causing equipment damage and electronic interference, unqualified insulation of TV antenna terminals may also cause risks of electric shock and fire.

In addition, there are problems such as the factory name and address not being marked, production without CCC certificates, and counterfeiting and shoddy products.

In addition to home appliances, the single category of products with the largest number of unqualified products is children's shoes. The results show that there are 146 batches of unqualified children's shoes, accounting for 39.9% of the total number of random inspections.

Among them, the problem of excessive phthalates is particularly serious, accounting for 81.5% of all unqualified children's shoes and 32.5% of the total number of all sampled children's shoes. Phthalates are an estrogen substance and pose a potential risk to children's health.
