[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Rhizoma Cyperi fujianensis, a plant of the Primulaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, plant height 20-80cm. The whole plant is hairless. The stems are clustered in 2 or more pieces, erect, cylindrical at the base, purplish red, with four edges at the top due to the downward extension of the leaf bases, and with black or dark brown glandular stripes. Leaves are alternate or nearly opposite at the lower part of the stem, sometimes in whorls of 3-4, the largest in the middle of the stem, sessile or nearly sessile, leaf blades lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 4-14cm long, 9-23mm wide, apex long acuminate, base cuneate or nearly rounded, dark green above, pinkish green below, both sides densely covered with black glandular strips and glandular dots; midrib slightly raised below, lateral veins about 5 pairs, sometimes not obvious, reticulate veins slender; leaves at both ends of the stem smaller, near the base: the pair often reduced to scales. Flowers are solitary in the leaf axils of the upper half of the stem, rarely densely in racemes at the stem or branch ends; pedicels are slender, 1.5-5cm long; calyx is 7-11mm long, 5-lobed nearly to the base, lobes are linear-lanceolate, 1-2mm wide, apex long acuminate, with membranous narrow margins, back densely covered with black glandular strips and glandular dots, with 3-5 veins; corolla is yellow, bell-shaped, about 1cm long, apex 5-lobed, base fused part is 3-5mm long, lobes are broadly ovate, about 5mm wide, apex slightly obtuse, with short black glandular dots; stamens 5. The filaments are fused at the base to form a tube about 2.5 mm high, with the separated part 2.5 (3.5)-4 mm long; the anthers are oblong, 1.2-2 mm long; the ovary is glabrous; the style is 6-7 mm long. The capsule is spherical, light brown, 3.5-5mm in diameter, with sparse brown or black short glandular stripes. The flowering period is May and the fruiting period is July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the edge of hillside forests, in grass, by valley streams and on wet rocks at an altitude of 500-850 (-1000) m.
