It is the best in moistening lungs and relieving cough

Autumn has always been a controversial season. Some people say that autumn is a wonderful season, while others say that autumn is a bad season. Just as Liu Yuxi said in "Autumn Lyrics": "Since ancient times, people have felt sad and lonely when autumn comes. I say that autumn is better than spring." There have been both sad and happy opinions about autumn since ancient times, such as the melancholy of "Last night the west wind withered the green trees, I went up to the high building alone and looked at the road to the end of the world"; and the joy of "I stop my car and sit to enjoy the maple forest in the evening, the frosted leaves are redder than the flowers in February."

However, in autumn, people with lung diseases or poor lung function often suffer from frequent coughing. Although cough is not a difficult disease, it is very torturous. Especially at night, frequent coughing not only makes you feel uncomfortable, but also disturbs the dreams of your family and neighbors. In the autumn when one could have sweet dreams, being disturbed by a cough is a pity.

However, when it comes to relieving cough and reducing phlegm, there is a relatively unique Chinese medicine, which is Fritillaria. Fritillaria has made great contributions in relieving cough and reducing phlegm, and has a very wide range of applications. However, there are many varieties of Fritillaria, and each variety has its own focus, just like "a dragon gives birth to nine sons". In clinical practice, the Fritillaria we commonly use include Sichuan Fritillaria, Zhejiang Fritillaria, Chinese Fritillaria, Ilex Fritillaria, Ping Fritillaria and Hubei Fritillaria.

Here we first learn about Fritillaria cirrhosa, which is a perennial herb of the genus Fritillaria in the Liliaceae family. It is also a precious Chinese medicinal material for moistening the lungs and relieving coughs. It has a long history of use and outstanding therapeutic effects. It is well-known both at home and abroad. Traditional Chinese medicine preparations related to Fritillaria cirrhosa are also quite famous. Generally, Fritillaria cirrhosa is dug up in summer and autumn or when the snow melts. The fibrous roots, rough bark and mud are removed and then dried in the sun or at low temperature.

As a traditional Chinese medicine, Fritillaria cirrhosa is not only precious, but also has excellent medicinal effects. According to traditional Chinese medicine, Fritillaria cirrhosa tastes bitter and sweet, and is slightly cold in nature; it enters the lung and heart meridians; it has the effects of clearing heat and moistening the lungs, resolving phlegm and relieving cough, dispersing nodules and eliminating carbuncles; it is suitable for lung heat and dry cough, dry cough with little phlegm, yin deficiency and fatigue cough, blood in sputum, scrofula, mastitis, and lung abscess; it is usually taken in water decoction, 3 to 9 grams; it is usually taken in powder form, 1 to 2 grams. According to the 18 contraindications of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fritillaria cirrhosa should not be used together with Chuanwu, processed Chuanwu, Caowu, processed Caowu, and Aconite.

Fritillaria cirrhosa is an expert in relieving cough and has a wide range of clinical applications. For example, to treat common cough, you can use ten pieces of fried Fritillaria thunbergii with bran, 15 grams each of donkey-hide gelatin and roasted licorice, grind them into powder, take 3 grams each time, and drink fried glutinous rice before going to bed. For example, to treat lung heat, cough with phlegm, and dry throat, you can use 45 grams each of Fritillaria thunbergii and almond, grind them into powder, make them into pills with refined honey, as big as marbles, and dissolve them in your mouth and swallow them. For example, to treat whooping cough, you can use 5g of white flower snake, 10g of Fritillaria, and 10g of raw licorice. Crush and sieve the three herbs, mix them evenly, and take 1.5 to 3g each time.
