Isatis indigotica has a good effect in preventing and treating infectious diseases. For example, using 25 grams of isatis indigotica and 50 grams of soybeans, decocted in water and taken once a day, can prevent Japanese encephalitis and meningitis; using 30 grams of isatis indigotica and 50 grams of Lycopodiella cernua root, decocted in water and taken once a day, can prevent and treat Japanese encephalitis, meningitis, colds, fever, mumps and other diseases.

Isatis indigotica is also very effective in treating various rashes. For example, for patients with measles that are too red, slightly purple, or too severe, you can use isatis indigotica, Scrophularia ningpoensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Gypsum, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Akebia trifoliata, Rehmannia glutinosa, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Licorice, and Lophatherum gracile, decocted in water and taken hot. Folium Isatidis has many clinical effects, but most of them are mainly used for clearing away heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and removing freckles. For example, as stated in "Bencao Jingshu", "it should not be used on people with weak spleen and cold"; and as stated in "Depei Bencao", "it is forbidden to be used by those with diarrhea due to deficiency".
