Asparagus fern, also known as cloud pine, asparagus fern and cloud bamboo, can reach several meters in height. The roots of asparagus fern are slightly fleshy, and the stems are soft, clustered and slender. The stem is very branched and nearly smooth. The leaf-like branches are bristle-like and slightly triangular; the base of the leaves is slightly thorny but not obvious. The flowers are white with short stalks and bloom from September to October. The fruit is purple when ripe and contains 1 to 3 seeds. Fruiting occurs from winter to the following spring. Asparagus fern has a high appreciation value and can be placed in the living room or study to purify the air. The root is used as medicine to treat acute bronchitis, and is most effective in relieving cough and moistening the lungs. Medicinal value effect Moistens the lungs and relieves cough, cools the blood and relieves stranguria, and is a diuretic and detoxifying agent. It is mainly used to treat cough caused by tuberculosis, acute bronchitis, amoebic dysentery, yin deficiency and lung dryness; cough; hemoptysis; dribbling urination. Antibacterial effect It has different degrees of antibacterial effects on Laryngitis, Pneumococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus aureus. Killing mosquito and fly larvae Soaking chopped asparagus fern in water to a concentration of 0.5-1% can kill all the insects in it after 72-96 hours. At a concentration of 2-5%, 70-100% of the maggots can be killed after 3-4 days. Anti-tumor effect In vitro tests (methylene blue method and Warburg respirator assay) showed that asparagus had a certain inhibitory effect on the dehydrogenase of leukocytes in patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia and acute monocytic leukemia, and could inhibit the respiration of leukocytes in patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia. The saponins contained in Asparagusracemosus, a plant of the same genus produced in India, have an anti-oxytocin effect on the animal uterus. Antitussive and expectorant effects Animal experiments have shown that it has antitussive and expectorant effects. Clinical Application 1. Treatment of breast tumors: For general benign breast tumors, especially breast lobular hyperplasia, regardless of the size of the tumor, It works quickly and most people can be cured. Among 52 patients with lobular hyperplasia and fibroadenoma of the breast, 30 were clinically cured after treatment, 16 were significantly effective, 5 were effective, and 1 was ineffective. It also has a certain short-term effect on breast cancer, which is manifested by the reduction of the tumor and softening of the texture after taking the medicine; but the long-term effect is not yet significant, which is manifested by the stalemate after a period of use, and no obvious progress (the same is true for fibroids). In some cases, although the dosage is increased, no obvious improvement is seen. It is not effective for breast tumors that have begun to ulcerate and bleed and for advanced breast cancer that has metastasized widely. Usage: Take 2 liang of fresh asparagus every day, peel off the skin, steam it in water, and take it in 3 doses. It can also be made into tablets for oral administration or injections for intramuscular or intravenous injection. 2. Used to dilate the cervix: Inserting asparagus into the cervical canal 12 hours before artificial abortion can cause the cervix to dilate and soften naturally. According to the observation of 84 cases, 94% of them had good effects and no case of infection was found. After application in cases of threatened abortion, uterine contractions can be initiated spontaneously to discharge the contents of the uterine cavity; this phenomenon does not occur in cases of artificial abortion. Usage: Select a piece of asparagus with appropriate size and curvature (5-7 cm long, 0.3-0.6 cm in diameter) and smooth and complete surface, tie a yarn at the end, soak it in 95% alcohol, and it can be used after 4 hours. During the operation, perform routine disinfection, dilate the vagina, expose the external cervical os, clamp the wire end of the asparagus with long tweezers, and slowly insert the other end toward the cervical os to reach the internal cervical os. Stuff a piece of gauze into the vagina to prevent the asparagus from falling off. Curettage can be performed in about 12 hours. |
