This should be said to be the best season of the year, and it is also the golden period for growing Chinese herbal medicines. So which Chinese herbal medicines are more suitable for planting? What should you pay special attention to when planting Chinese herbal medicines for the first time?

It is a kind of Chinese herbal medicine with dual functions of food and medicine. It has a very obvious production cycle and market cycle. The intake of Platycodon grandiflorum is also very large. It is mainly used for casual dishes and is also one of the main Chinese medicinal materials for export and foreign exchange earning. The medicinal value of Platycodon grandiflorum is approximately more than 5,000 tons, and the total usage will reach the level of 10,000 tons. Place of origin means: Lixing Town, Fuyang City, Taihe City, Anhui Province; Niuyingzi, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia; Niaomingjian Town, Zibo City, Shandong Province and Sancha Township, Yiyuan City and Qinghezi, Yecun and Zhangcun, Shangluo, Shangzhou, Shaanxi Province are traditional planting areas; there may be many other secondary planting areas, so please pay attention. Citrus grandiflora likes sunshine, soft, humid and cool climate.

Seedlings are afraid of direct sunlight and need to be shaded. Mature plants like the sun and are afraid of water. Resistant to drought, cold and afraid of wind damage. It is suitable for planting on sandy soil with thick soil layer, good drainage, loose soil layer and lime. If the soil contains too much water or retains water, the roots are prone to rot. Also known as Tongyun, Huiyun, Huicao, Baizhi and Qianzhong, it is a perennial woody plant that likes cool climate, is resistant to low temperatures and drought. The main producing areas are Hebei Province, Heilongjiang Province, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and other places. The roots of Saposhnikovia divaricata can be used raw. It tastes spicy and sweet, and is slightly warm in nature. It has the effects of dispelling wind, replenishing deficiency, eliminating dampness, relieving pain and stopping spasm. It is a type of bulk Chinese medicinal material that is used in large quantities. The general annual usage is around 6,000-7,000 tons.

Atractylodes macrocephala and Poria cocos are also known as winter atractylodes, Yu atractylodes, and Zhejiang atractylodes. They are perennial woody plants of the genus Paeonia in the Asteraceae family. Medicinal value: The main components of the underground rhizome are volatile oil, erythropaeol and erythropaeone. It tastes slightly bitter and sweet and is warm in nature. It has the effects of invigorating Qi, strengthening the stomach, promoting digestion and harmonizing the spleen, removing dampness and promoting the elimination of dampness, nourishing the fetus and inhibiting sweating. It is mainly used to treat spleen and stomach qi deficiency, food stagnation and bloating, vomiting and diarrhea, fetal movement disorder, and pregnancy edema. The height of the Atractylodes and Poria plants is 30~60cm, with thick rhizomes in the shape of fists or frog legs, and the epidermis is earthy yellow. The stem is upright, branched in the upper part, and woody at the tip. The inflorescence grows at the end of the branches; most of the flowers are tubular, corolla blue-purple. Achenes are oblong-oval, slightly flat, covered with yellow-white hairs; hairy palmate.

The flowering period is from September to October, and the fruiting period is from October to November. There are currently very few natural Atractylodes and Poria resources, which are distributed in the temperate and subtropical regions in eastern my country. It is best to plant Atractylodes macrocephala and Poria cocos in cool climate, semi-humid areas, hilly areas and mountainous areas with good drainage. Atractylodes and Poria are cold-resistant, and the seedlings can withstand short-term frost, and can withstand extremely low temperatures of around -10°C in winter. In summer, if there is a sudden rainstorm, high temperature and rainy weather, they are prone to illness and death. The main production area of ​​Atractylodes and Poria is Zhejiang, followed by Jiangsu Province, Jiangxi Province, Hebei Province, Chongqing City, Anhui Province and other provinces. Now it is grown in all provinces of China. Atractylodes macrocephala has low soil requirements, but grows well on loose, rich, well-drained sandy soil. It can be planted in acidic and alkaline yellow-red soil or slightly alkaline sandy loam, but soil layers that are too sticky or too sandy are not suitable for planting. Avoid repeated cropping, and the rotation period should be more than 5 years. The previous crop should be sedge or sweet potato. In North China, the annual Atractylodes macrocephala and Poria cocos can meet the product standards. In southern China, such as Zhejiang Province, Henan Province, Hunan Province, Hubei Province, Sichuan Province, etc., it is 1 to 2 years old.
