The leaves are odd-pinnate compound leaves, with lanceolate stipules, falling off early; there are 4 to 8 pairs of leaflets, and the petiolules are very short, about 1 mm long; the leaflets are ovate, ovate-elliptical or occasionally nearly round, 2 to 5.5 cm long, 1.5 to 3 cm wide, with acute or nearly obtuse apex, usually rounded base, and covered with glandular scales and short hairs on both sides.

The racemes are axillary, with densely packed flowers, 5 to 12 cm long; the calyx is bell-shaped, about half the length of the corolla and slightly longer, with 5 calyx teeth, lanceolate, slightly longer than the calyx tube, and covered with short hairs and glandular scales; the corolla is light purple-violet, about 14 to 3 mm long, the standard petal is large, oblong-oval, rounded or slightly emarginate at the apex, with short claws at the bottom, the keel petal is straight, shorter than the wing petal, and both have long claws; there are 10 stamens, 2 in number, filaments of varying lengths, and anthers of varying sizes; there is 1 pistil, and the ovary is sessile.
