What are the effects and methods of consumption of Astragalus?

Astragalus is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine, and it has many functions, effects and ways of consumption. People can not only take it as medicine, but also put it in vegetables or some meats. Therefore, we can see that Astragalus occupies a very important position in our lives. Next, let us learn about the functions and consumption methods of Astragalus.

Nowadays, with the popularization of Western medicine, more and more people are starting to take Western medicine, but they don’t know much about the understanding and usage of traditional Chinese medicine.

Today, I would like to recommend a Chinese medicine to you - Astragalus. Next, we will give an in-depth explanation of the effects, functions and consumption methods of Astragalus. Astragalus is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which is often referred to as Huangqi. Astragalus is a precious medicinal material and is a national third-level protected plant. It is widely planted in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Heilongjiang, Shanxi and other places. As a precious medicinal material, Astragalus has the effects of promoting diuresis and reducing swelling, replenishing qi and strengthening the exterior, and detoxifying and discharging pus.

Astragalus is a national third-level protected plant

The medicinal use of Astragalus has a history of more than 2,000 years. Modern research shows that Astragalus contains saponins, sucrose, polysaccharides, multiple amino acids, folic acid, and various trace elements such as selenium, zinc, and copper.

It has the effects of enhancing the body's immune function, protecting the liver, diuresis, anti-aging, anti-stress, lowering blood pressure and a wide range of antibacterial effects. However, it should not be taken in patients with symptoms such as excessive external evil, stagnation of qi and dampness, stagnant food, severe heat and toxicity in the early stage of carbuncle or after ulceration, as well as those with yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity.

Astragalus polysaccharides can also stimulate the proliferation of NK cells and enlarge the cell body. The promoting effect of Astragalus on NK cell activity is mainly mediated by inducing lymphocytes to produce 7-interferon, and the promoting effect of Astragalus on NK cell activity is parallel to its induced antiviral activity.

Astragalus can also induce the production of gamma-interferon when cultured with mouse spleen cells in vitro. Administration of astragalus decoction and astragalus polysaccharide to mice with spleen deficiency caused by rhubarb can restore their spleen's ability to produce IL-2. Astragalus can also enhance the responsiveness of peripheral blood lymphocytes to IL-2, thereby increasing the proliferation index of peripheral blood lymphocytes after being stimulated by IL-2.

Enhance specific immune function

Astragalus can significantly enhance cellular immunity and promote the transformation of lymphocytes caused by PHA, COnA, and PWM (Pokeweed). Huangmao increases the amount of hemolysin released by spleen antibody-producing cells and serum lysozyme in mice irradiated with 6OCo once. It has different degrees of promoting or enhancing effects on delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions, the rosette rate of erythrocyte C3b receptor, and the rosette formation rate of erythrocyte-immune complexes.

In addition, although ingredients such as astragalus polysaccharides extracted from astragalus have significant immune-enhancing effects, ingredients with strong immunosuppressive effects are also extracted from astragalus.

The above is a detailed explanation of the effects and consumption methods of Astragalus. If you are not very familiar with the consumption methods, you must conduct an in-depth discussion. Of course, we must also make full use of its effects in our daily lives. Only in this way can we truly enjoy the effects and functions of Astragalus, and at the same time we can have a healthy body.
