Leaves are clustered; petioles are thick, 1-1.2m long, with shallow longitudinal grooves on the ventral side, and brown-purple at the bottom; leaf blades are leathery, broadly ovate, 1-1.4m long, 0.8-1.1m wide, deeply tripinnate, with 10-15 pairs of pinnae, alternate, narrowly oblong, 50-1500px long, 20-625px wide; bipinnae are 18-24 pairs, alternate, linear-lanceolate, 13-375px long, 2-75px wide; terminal lobes are 23-25 pairs, alternate, sickle-lanceolate, less than 50px long, with shallow serrations on the edges; leaf veins are pinnate, and lateral veins are forked. The sporangium is located at the lower edge of the lobe, grown at the top of the veinlet, and has two lobes, shaped like a clam shell and oblong. It grows in acidic soil at the foot of mountains, along ditches and in the shade and wet places under forests.
