[Original form] Acer truncatum is a deciduous tree, 9-15m tall. The bark is rough and dark brown; the twigs are cylindrical and glabrous, the current year's branches are light purple-green, and the old branches are dark purple. Leaves opposite; petiole 2-4cm long, light green, glabrous; leaf blade thin papery or papery, 7-10cm wide, 5.5-8cm long, usually 5-lobed, median lobe and lateral lobe ovate or triangular-ovate, apex short and acute, tip 8-10mm long, base deeply cordate or nearly cordate, leaf margin with closely appressed round teeth, green above, glabrous, light green below, basal veins 5, prominent on both sides. The panicle is terminal and colorless; the flowers are polygamous, with male and bisexual flowers on the same plant, 5 sepals, green, oblong, and glabrous; 5 petals, dark green, oblong-obovate; 8 stamens, glabrous filaments, and light yellow anthers; the disk is located outside the stamens; the ovary is purple, densely covered with light yellow long soft hairs, the style is 2-lobed, glabrous, and the stigma is flat. The samaras are lavender when young, and light yellow when mature. The nutlets are nearly spherical, about 6mm in diameter, with wings spread nearly horizontally, the widest in the middle, often up to 1cm, and 2-2.3cm long including the nutlets. The flowering period is May and the fruiting period is September.
