Many Chinese medicine books have high praise for Poria cocos, saying that it not only has a nourishing effect, but can also eliminate diseases without harming the body. It is a good medicine for people to use for health care. Modern people usually suffer from indigestion, poor appetite and body edema due to spleen dampness. If you suffer from exhaustion and insomnia due to stress from life and work, you can use Poria cocos to remove spleen dampness, strengthen the spleen and stomach, and promote sleep. The method of use is also relatively simple. You can grind it into powder and then decoct it, or make it into medicinal food. 1. To dispel dampness and promote diuresis: ① Used for edema, such as nephritic edema, which starts with swelling of the eyelids, face, and limbs, and there are symptoms such as urgency, pain, or hematuria. It is used for dribbling urination or no urination, turbid and small amount of urine, fullness and stuffiness in the chest and abdomen, fatigue, heaviness of the body, and lying down. It is caused by dampness blocking the middle burner and spleen deficiency and urination difficulty. It can be used with Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Alisma orientalis, Citrus grandis bark, Morus alba bark, Tangerine peel, Papaya, Areca catechu, Sophora japonica stem, Costus root, Amomum villosum, etc., such as Poria diuretic soup. It can also be used for edema caused by excessive amniotic fluid during pregnancy. 2. Strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach: ① It is used for spleen deficiency, inability to transport and transform water and dampness, phlegm and fluid retention, loose stools, poor appetite, etc. It can be used together with Codonopsis pilosula, scorched Atractylodes macrocephala, yam, roasted ginger, cinnamon twig, tangerine peel, etc. ② It is used for cough with phlegm and fluid, cough with white, thin and sticky phlegm, chest and abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, etc. It is used with Pinellia, Tangerine Peel, Ginger and Licorice, such as Erchen Decoction. The medicinal effect of Poria cocos is very mild, and most people do not experience side effects after taking it. However, some people should not take Poria cocos, otherwise it will aggravate their condition. For example, men with weak constitution, nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea, and patients with symptoms of frequent urination due to physical weakness should not take Poria cocos. If you want to use it, you must take it under the guidance of an experienced Chinese medicine practitioner. |
