There are many varieties of traditional Chinese medicine. If we want to treat diseases in our lives, we must have a certain understanding of the effects of some traditional Chinese medicines, so that we can regulate them more specifically. Moreover, Chinese medicine is something we need to eat, so we must understand it clearly before taking it. Among them, nard is a kind of Chinese medicine. Many friends may be a little unfamiliar with this type of medicinal material. So what are the effects of nard? Nardostachys grandiflora is a less commonly used Chinese medicine. First recorded in Kaibao Materia Medica. Other name: fragrant pine. Source: It is the rhizome of the plant Nardostachys grandiflora of the Patriniaceae family. All are wild. Among the products, those with a stronger Sichuan pine aroma are the best. Origin: Mainly produced in Songpan and Nanping, Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan. In addition, it is also produced in Qinghai and other places. Property identification: The dry rhizome is curved like a shrimp, thick at the top and thin at the bottom, about 5 to 13 cm long. The surface is wrinkled and brown, often cracked into sheets, the central wood is gray-brown, the lower part of the old root is a single pith, and the upper part has 2 to 4 separate piths. The body is light and foamy. It has a special rich aroma and tastes sweet and slightly bitter. The best ones are those with a dry body, a thick main root, a fragrant aroma, a strong flavor, and long strips without impurities. Main ingredients: The rhizome contains aristolochene-1(10)-2-one, valerone, derbyone, valerone, valerone, patchouli alcohol, etc. Efficacy and functions: Nardostachys grandiflora has the function of regulating qi and relieving pain. 1. It has a calming effect on the central nervous system and has a certain tranquilizing effect, with the ethanol extract having the highest efficacy. Large doses are toxic, and 1.5/k to 3.75/kg can be lethal. 2. Nardostachys grandiflora also has anti-arrhythmic effects and is generally a safer drug. The inhibitory effect on ectopic ventricular rhythm is stronger than quinidine and spikenard essential oil. However, it has no protective effect against ventricular arrhythmias caused by digitalis. 3. Nardostachys has a direct effect on smooth muscle; applying nardostachys before and after spraying tissue amine on guinea pigs can cause bronchial dilation. The alcohol extract has the effect of antagonizing histamine and acetylcholine in isolated smooth muscle organs (large intestine, small intestine, uterus, bronchi), and can also antagonize spasms caused by barium chloride. Preparation: Cut into sections and use raw. Nature and flavor: sweet and warm. Meridians: Enters the spleen and stomach meridians. Function: Regulate qi and relieve pain, invigorate the spleen and strengthen the stomach. Indications: spleen depression, abdominal distension and pain, malnutrition, hysteria, athlete's foot, and hemorrhoids. Clinical application: Gansong is a medicine that invigorates the spleen and relieves stomach discomfort. It can treat sudden heart and stomach pain, and relieve abdominal distension. It has the effect of warming the spleen and dispersing the qi. It has a fragrant aroma and is used in spleen and stomach medicines to strengthen the spleen, regulate qi, stimulate the appetite and aid food. 1. It is used to treat loss of appetite due to spleen deficiency, chronic diarrhea and collapse in the elderly. It is often used in combination with Angelica sinensis and White Peony Root. It has the effects of warming without being dry, and being sweet without being stagnant. It can be used in combination with San Nai to treat spleen yang deficiency. 2. For the treatment of cholera convulsions, nard is a necessary medicine. It can be used in combination with aconite root, coptis root, and evodia rutaecarpa to treat true cold cholera, which is very effective. Precautions for use: Do not take this product if you have Qi deficiency or blood heat. Dosage: 2~4.5g; or in the form of pills or powder. For external use: soak in water and gargle or decoct in water to wash the affected area. Prescription examples: 1. Xiangsong Decoction (Puji Fang) is used to treat athlete's foot caused by dampness, absorb dampness and remove toxins; it contains sweet myrrh, lotus leaf heart, and Ligusticum chuanxiong. Wash it with a decoction of the three ingredients. 2. Treat neuralgic stomachache and various gastrointestinal pains (Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica): Nardostachysinensis, costusroot, cyperus rotundus, and agarwood. Take it in decoction. 3. For the treatment of hysteria, neurasthenia, gastrointestinal spasm, etc., Jiangxi (Chinese Herbal Medicine): 18g of Nardostachys grandiflora, 4.5g of Phellodendron chinense, 500ml of water, soak in hot water for three hours (boil once every half an hour). Take it in twelve doses, six times a day. Note: Yunnan also produces a kind of nard, which is of the same genus, Nardostachys grandiflora. The difference between it and nard is that the plant is shorter, with flower stems generally 15 to 20 cm high; the leaves are wider, oblanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate; the flowers are larger; the calyx is also large, and the ovary is hairy. The shape of the crude drug is similar to the above species, but it is thicker, about 13 cm long and 1.5 cm in diameter. There are many basal leaf stumps, which are mostly fibrous and gray-brown. The rhizome is longer and quadrangular, and many of them are connected to a main root, with a weaker aroma. The quality is poor, so it is not widely used. The above is some introduction about the effects of nard. Many Chinese herbal medicines in our lives have different medicinal properties, so we must have a general understanding of some of the medicinal properties of Chinese herbal medicines and their consumption taboos, so as to avoid causing some unnecessary harm and enable Chinese medicine to exert its best effect and help us regulate our bodies. |
