What to do if a bee sting causes fever

What to do if a bee sting causes fever

It is best for us not to get close to the bees in their activity range to avoid being harmed. So what should we do if we get a fever from a bee sting? What measures and methods should we take? First of all, the fever is definitely caused by infection. In this case, an anti-inflammatory injection is necessary. Apart from this, what other methods are there to solve this problem? Let us take a look at what is the best solution?

1. Find faults

After being stung by a bee, a broken stinger will remain at the sting site. The broken stinger should not be ignored. The stung person or relatives and friends around him need to pick out the broken stinger to prevent the wound from becoming inflamed and worsening.

2. Apply baking soda water

After picking out the sting, you need to apply baking soda water to the wound to neutralize the toxicity. If there is no baking soda water, soapy water, salt water, etc. can be used as substitutes. If the situation is urgent, fresh urine can also clean the stung wound. It is worth noting that after being stung by a poisonous bee, soapy water and other treatments are ineffective and the person should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.

3. Apply medicine

After cleaning the wound, you can apply some medicine to the stung area, such as crushed wild chrysanthemum, garlic, ginger, etc., or you can go to the outpatient clinic to buy medicine specifically for bee stings and apply the medicine to the wound.

4. Notes

Experts point out that severe bee stings may cause mental disorders, difficulty breathing, dizziness, and fainting. In such cases, the patient must be sent to a doctor in time to avoid any accidents. If you are stung by a bee and there are no serious symptoms after the above treatment, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for examination to avoid health risks.

What are the symptoms of a bee sting?

There are many types of bees, such as honey bees, wasps, hornets, bumble bees, etc. Male bees do not harm people because they do not have venom glands or stingers. It is the female bees (worker bees) that sting people. The female bees have a stinger connected to the venom gland at the end of their abdomen. When the stinger enters the human body, venom is immediately injected. When a bee stings someone, it often leaves its stinger at the site of the sting; however, a wasp retracts its stinger after stinging and can continue to hurt someone. Bee venom mainly contains formic acid, neurotoxins and histamine, which can cause hemolysis and bleeding, have an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system, and may also cause allergic reactions in some victims of stings. After a person is stung by a bee, in mild cases, only local redness, swelling, pain, and burning sensation may occur. There may also be blisters, ecchymosis, and local lymph node enlargement, which will disappear on their own within a few hours to 1-2 days. If a person is stung by a swarm of bees in multiple places on his body, it often causes systemic symptoms such as fever, headache, dizziness, nausea, irritability, and fainting. People who are allergic to bee venom may develop urticaria, rhinitis, swelling of the lips and eyelids, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, it may cause laryngeal edema, asthma, difficulty breathing, coma, and ultimately death from respiratory and circulatory failure.

Although fever caused by bee stings is not a serious disease, it is well known that fever can make people feel severe headaches, thus affecting normal work and study. Therefore, for our normal life, we must reduce the chance of illness, so that our resistance and immunity will not decrease, our physical fitness will always be good, and we will live happier.
