What are the effects of white Poria cocos

What are the effects of white Poria cocos

White Poria, it is very likely that most people have never heard of this food. In life, the most common thing people hear about is wild Poria. White Poria has some similarities with wild Poria, but there are still differences. White Poria is mainly a kind of Chinese herbal medicine. It is sold in major Chinese medicine stores and is widely distributed. So, what are the effects of white Poria?

1. Effects on the blood system

(1) It can accelerate the recovery of leukocytopenia in rats caused by cyclophosphamide.

(2) The water extract of Poria cocos containing water-soluble small molecular weight polysaccharides can increase the 2,3-DPG level of healthy human red blood cells in vitro by about 25%, and can effectively delay the depletion of 2,3-DPG during the incubation process; the overall 2,3-DPG level of mice significantly increased after intravenous administration.

(3) Subcutaneous injection and oral administration of Poria cocos decoction can significantly increase the plasma corticosterone of mice.

2. Effects on the Central Nervous System

Poria decoction, injected intraperitoneally at a dose of 5-10 g/kg, has a sedative effect on mice that have been given caffeine or not in advance. Synergistic effect of Poria cocos and sodium pentobarbital. Poria decoction (10g/kg) failed to significantly prolong the anesthesia time of sodium pentobarbital; a dose of 40g/kg significantly prolonged the anesthesia time compared with the control group. As the dose increased, the sedation index also increased. This synergistic effect may be due to their central inhibitory effects, or it may hinder the decomposition and excretion of pentobarbital, thereby prolonging the anesthesia time.

3. Other functions

(1) The ethanol extract caused the blood sugar of rabbits to increase first and then decrease.

(2) The water, ethanol and ether extracts of Poria cocos can enhance cardiac contraction and accelerate heart rate in isolated frog hearts.

(3) Poria cocos significantly inhibited the activity of MAO-B both in vivo and in vitro.

(4) Intraperitoneal injection of carboxymethyl tuckahoe polysaccharide (100 mg/kg/day) for 12 days can counteract the inhibitory effect of 60Co r radiation on mouse peripheral leukocytes, reduce the content of cytochrome P-450 in liver homogenate, and enhance the central inhibitory effect of thiopental sodium.

From this, we can see that through the detailed introduction above, I believe everyone should now have a clear understanding that the effects of white Poria cocos are very wide-ranging. Regardless of the four seasons, white Poria cocos can be combined with various medicines to exert its unique special effects regardless of cold, heat, wind, or dampness. I hope the above introduction can be helpful to everyone.
