The efficacy and function of Chinese herbal medicine Akebia

Akebia is a very good Chinese herbal medicine. Its main function is to eliminate dampness and swelling, remove evil fire, and also help promote urination and treat bladder dampness and heat. It can usually be used together with other Chinese herbal medicines such as Plantago seed and feldspar. For some women with amenorrhea and insufficient milk, Akebia can also help to regulate menstruation and help breast function smoothly. It can be used together with rose, peach kernel, purple salvia miltiorrhiza, etc.

Another important function of Akebia is to treat mouth sores and inflammation. It can be used together with other Chinese medicinal materials such as Rehmannia root, licorice, and bamboo leaves.

Mutong is very slightly cold in nature. Our ancestors said that it can greatly drain the qi of the heart and kidneys, so it should not be used carelessly. Although the application of Akebia is quite extensive in modern times, the usage should still be controlled and not too large. It has also been observed in clinical medicine that taking more than 2 taels of Mutong at a time can cause renal failure, so caution must be exercised. Pregnant women should use it with caution. When the elderly or those with weak constitutions use Akebia, consideration should be given to adding Codonopsis pilosula and Scutellaria baicalensis. The plant origin of the product Akebia is very complicated.

The above three products: 1. The original plant of Aristolochia tongxin is mainly the plant Aristolochia tongxinxin of the Aristolochiaceae family. 2. The original plants of Sichuan Akebia include many plants of the genus Clematis in the Ranunculaceae family besides Akebia: such as hydrangea, Clematis chinensis, Clematis scabra, Clematis chinensis, and Clematis chinensis in South China. As for Chinese medicinal products, those with a diameter of more than 1 cm in Sichuan are called big Akebia, and those with a diameter of less than 1 cm are called small Akebia. 3. The origin of the green plant Akebia of the Akebia family is: there are five-leaf Akebia, three-leaf Akebia and white Akebia. Its products are only produced and used locally and very little is exported. In Jiangsu Province, the stems of Akebia quinata are used as "sea breeze vine" for medicinal value. Its fruit is the medicinal seed, also known as August melon and August Zha.
