[Other names] Field sorghum, cow hair grass, cow hair felt (Guizhou Folk Medicine), brown-eared floating grass (Flora of Guangzhou), and piece-horned grass (Flora of China).

[Source] The whole herb of dark brown floating grass of the Cyperaceae family. Harvest from August to September.

[Original form] Perennial herb with tufted stems, 20 to 40 cm high. The leaves are linear, 5 to 15 cm long, acute at the apex, and hairy on both sides. Bracts 2-4, leaf-like, 8-35 mm long, with long hairs; lateral cymes are compound, with many hairy radiating branches; spikelets are oblong-lanceolate, 6-10 mm long; flower scales are ovate-lanceolate, with coarse short hairs, brown, with 1 midrib; stamens 3; stigmas 3. The nutlets are obovate, three-sided, light brown or white. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

[Habitat distribution] Grown on mountain tops, grasslands or fields. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Hunan, Guizhou and other places.

【Functions and indications】Relieve exterior symptoms, clear away cold and heat.
