[Source] It is the roots, stems and leaves of the Ranunculaceae plant Akebia .

[Original form] Semi-evergreen climbing shrub. 4 to 13 meters high. The stem is reddish brown, striped, glabrous, or sometimes sparsely hairy. 3-leaf compound leaves, with simple leaves in between, opposite; petiole spirally curled; leaflets lanceolate, broadly ovate or ovate-rectangular, 5-12 cm long, 2-4.5 (-7) cm wide, base cordate or rounded, apex pointed or long pointed. Entire, leathery. Single or 3 flowers, sometimes 5 flowers in racemes, axillary; bracts linear, long pointed or with 3 teeth at the tip, with short straight hairs; pedicel 5-12 cm long, 2 bracteoles, linear, hairy; pedicel sometimes with tiny bracts in the middle; flowers white, 3-5 cm in diameter, 4 perianths, sometimes more, lanceolate, with dense pubescence along the edges below, many stamens, flat filaments; pistils very dense, ovary and style with long straight hairs. Achenes are fusiform and flat, 5 mm long, with yellow straight hairs, and the stigma is persistent with feathery hairs.

[Habitat distribution] Distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places in my country.

【Nature and flavor】 "Jiangxi Herbal Medicine": "bitter, warm."

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness, promote blood circulation and detoxify. Treat rheumatic joint swelling and pain, gastroenteritis, malaria, mastitis, dental caries, and eye cataracts.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1-3 qian of roots; 0.5-1 liang of leaves; or grind into powder. For external use: mash and apply or plug the nose.

[Additional prescription] ① To treat rheumatic low back pain: 50 cents of Rhizoma Akebiae root. Grind into powder, take a pair of pig kidneys, cut them open and scrape off the white membrane, put the powder into the pig kidneys, wrap them with lettuce leaves, simmer and take. Avoid salt.

[Remarks] The root of this plant is used as Clematis in Guangxi, Jiangxi and other places.
