[Source] The inflorescence and leaves of Artemisia annua of the Asteraceae family. Generally, they are harvested when the flower buds are about to bloom in August and September. The best time to harvest them is when their appearance changes from green to yellow-green, their top changes from pointed and long to round and blunt, they are no longer sticky when held in the hand, and they will fall apart if you loosen your hands. If the flower buds mature at different times, they should be harvested in batches. The collected flower buds need to be dried immediately using a fire bed, tobacco curing room, drying room, etc., or spread out in a ventilated place to dry quickly in the shade. Do not expose them to the sun or pile them up.

[Original form] Perennial subshrub, up to 70 cm tall. The roots are thick and slightly twisted. The base of the stem is woody and has 8 to 30 branches. Leaves are alternate, small, and deeply pinnate-lobed twice; the leaflets are narrow linear, obtuse at the tip, pubescent, and gray-green. The inflorescence capitula is oblong or elliptical, 1.5-4 mm long, and is integrated into a compound raceme; the involucres are arranged in a shingle-like manner, with the outer bracts obtusely triangular and thicker, gradually becoming ovate or elliptical and thinner towards the inside; the central part of the bracts is yellow-green to brown-green, with ridges, and white edges. The inflorescence has 3 to 6 small flowers, all of which are tubular flowers, about 1.5 mm long, with 5-lobed corolla; 5 stamens, anthers united; 1 pistil, ovary oblong. Achenes small, without pappus. The flowering period is from mid-August to mid-September.
