[Source] Medicinal material source: the stems, leaves or roots of Eurya bivariatea of ​​the Theaceae family.

[Original form] A two-striped shrub, 2-5m high. The young branches are cylindrical and have long yellow-brown hairs. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are extremely short; leaf blades are papery or hard papery, oblong-lanceolate, 3-6cm long, 0.8-1.5cm wide, with acute apex, rounded base, finely serrated margins, and long filaments underneath; flowers are unisexual, dioecious, 1-2 axillary; sepals are 5, ovate, persistent, and pubescent; petals are 5, white or light green at the apex, dark purple at the base, 2-2.5mm long; male flowers have 15 stamens, with or without a reduced ovary; female flowers have no stamens, the ovary has long filaments, and the style is 3-5mm long, with 3 lobes at the apex. The berries are spherical, 4-5mm in diameter, and have long yellow-brown hairs.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in valleys, under forests or beside ditches at an altitude of 480-1500m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and relieves sore throat; detoxifies and heals sores. Mainly used for lung heat, cough with phlegm, sore throat, mouth sores, burns caused by water or fire

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g of stems and leaves, 10-15g of roots. For external use: take appropriate amount, mash the fresh product and apply on the affected area; or dry it in the sun and grind it into powder for application. Or decoct it into a thick liquid and gargle with it.
