[Original morphology] Perennial herb with short and thick rhizomes and many roots that are thin, curved, and light brown. Stem erect, single. Simple leaves are alternate, ovate or narrow ovate, slightly pointed at the apex, cuneate or broadly cuneate at the base, with shallow serrations on the margins and eyelashes, green on the upper side and light green on the lower side, glabrous on both sides or slightly hairy on the veins. It blooms from autumn to early spring, with the capitula arranged in a narrow long cone. The involucre is bell-shaped, with bracts in 3 rows, colorless and membranous, with a narrow green strip in the center, and small membranous bracts under the involucre; the flowers are yellow, the ligulate flowers are female, the tubular flowers are bisexual, and the achenes are all glabrous, with very few having sparse hairs on the top of the achenes.

【Habitat distribution】Grows on hillsides and roadsides. Distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou and other provinces.

[Cultivation] It likes a cool climate and is suitable for cultivation in sandy loam or clay loam. Spring sowing is in April, in rows with a row spacing of 0.8 to 1 foot, covered with 2 to 3 fen of soil, and about 1.5 kilograms per mu. Pay attention to watering after sowing, and seedlings will emerge in about 10 to 15 days. When the seedlings are 2 inches tall, thin them out to a spacing of 4 to 6 inches between plants. Take the extract, add appropriate amount of dextrin, and spray in sodium saccharin aqueous solution. Mix well, dry and grind into fine powder. Take the fine powder and gradually add water to make granules, then dry them (6 grams per bag, equivalent to 0.67 cents of dry whole herb).

[Additional prescription] 1. Upper respiratory tract infection, pneumonia: 3 qian of Solidago asiatica, 2 qian of Aconitum carmichaelii. Decoction in water.

[Remarks] Solidago virgaurea L., the achenes of this species are densely covered with hairs. Only distributed in Xinjiang. The leaves contain rutin and quercitrin; the seeds contain saponins; the whole plant contains caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, flavonoids, quercetin, rutin, kaempferol glucoside, and cyanidin-3,5-diglucoside.
