[Original morphology] The algae grow in clusters, 1 to 4 cm long, purple (black after drying), leaf-like, flat and narrow, with irregular forked branches, and often have rhizomes growing from the branching points on the ventral side to attach to rocks. The internodes are narrow and oblong, and the nodes are constricted. There are long-axis cells in the central part of the leaf, extending to the top to form a distinct midrib. Some secondary branches often grow from the bifurcation point of the midrib. The spores are clustered in tetraspores on the upper part of the branches. The capsule is spherical and grows on the midrib on the ventral surface of the upper part of the body. The maturity period is spring and summer.

[Habitat distribution] Distributed along the coast of Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang in my country.

[Chemical composition] The whole algae contains L-α-kainic acid and a glycoside called "kainic acid"; sterols have also been separated, mainly cholesterol.

【Pharmacological action】 ① Anti-ascaris effect

[Toxicity] The toxicity of the decoction of Ampelopsis pilosa was very low when administered orally to mice. It is also almost non-toxic to other laboratory animals. Side effects are rare when taken by humans, occasionally including mild diarrhea, nausea, and short-term dizziness.

[Clinical Application] Anti-ascaris: According to the observation of more than 1,000 cases, the overall effective rate of anti-ascaris is about 84% to 88%. In more than 60% of cases, the roundworms were expelled within 24 hours after taking the medicine, with the earliest being 3 to 6 hours and the latest being 3 to 5 days. The number of deworming times varies from 1 to 5 times. The number of worms discharged ranged from 1 at least to 114 at most, with most cases ranging from 1 to 10. According to observations in some cases, although some worms are expelled after taking the medicine, they are generally not completely expelled. The stool of 93 cases was checked three weeks after taking the medicine, and the results showed ascaris eggs in all of them, but the number was less than before treatment. Therefore, it is believed that taking the medicine once cannot achieve the purpose of radical cure. Based on the fact that some of the expelled worms are dead or alive, it is believed that this product has both anthelmintic and insecticidal effects. It is possible that when the dosage is small, it only irritates the roundworms and causes them to be expelled, but when the dosage is large and the action time is longer, it will have an insecticidal effect. Some people believe that when roundworms are stimulated by drugs, they first become excitatory and then gradually become paralyzed and die. Children have higher intestinal sensitivity. When roundworms are stimulated and start to move excitedly, the secretion of intestinal glands is enhanced, thereby promoting intestinal peristalsis, causing the roundworms to be expelled from the body in a short period of time. Therefore, most of the roundworms excreted by children under 12 years old are alive, and most of them are excreted within 24 hours. For older people, the inhibitory activity of the cerebral cortex is enhanced, defecation becomes more regular, and the number of bowel movements per day decreases. In this way, the roundworms stay in the intestines for a longer time and have the opportunity to maintain long-term contact with the drug solution. Therefore, the worms are mostly excreted 3 days after taking the medicine. Most of the excreted worms are dead, and some have torn skin. Usage: 1. Boil 500g of dried partridge grass in water for 3 times, mix the filtrate and concentrate it into 500ml. 2-5 years old: 5 ml each time, 6-10 years old: 10 ml, 11-15 years old: 15 ml, 16 years old and above: 20 ml. Take once before going to bed at night and before breakfast the next day, or at 9 am and 4 pm. ㈡ Wash fresh algae, add salt and oil to season and cook it into dishes, or stir-fry it with eggs; you can also dry it and grind it into powder, mix it with flour and make biscuits for consumption. Dosage: 4 liang each time for adults, 3 liang for 8-16 years old, 2 liang for 4-8 years old, 1 liang for 1-4 years old (all fresh). In some individual cases, taking only 1 liang is also effective, and it is not uncommon for adults to expel roundworms by taking 2 liang. Side effects: A few may include abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite and dizziness. Generally mild.
