[Source] It is the roots, leaves and fruits of Litsea cubeba, a plant of the Lauraceae family .

[Original form] Deciduous tree, up to 20 meters high. Leaves are alternate, broadly obovate, rhombic-obovate or broadly elliptic, 9-20 cm long, 6-13 cm wide, obtuse or rounded at apex, slightly ear-shaped at base, entire, thick papery, with reddish-brown veins, 7-9 pairs of lateral veins, with short soft hairs on both sides, becoming smooth on the upper side with age; petiole 3-7 cm long. The flowers are unisexual, dioecious, opening before the leaves, in umbels of 5 to 8 flowers; the involucre has 8 segments, broadly ovate, with silky hairs on the outside; the perianth is yellow, 6 to 8 lobes, the lobes are of varying sizes, and are hairy on the outside; the male flowers have 9 fertile stamens, 4 anthers, and inward-lobed petals; the female flowers have 9 reduced stamens, ovate ovary, and slightly short soft hairs near the top of the style. The drupe is oval, black when ripe, and about 1.5 cm long. Flowering period is from March to April. The fruiting period is from September to October.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on the sunny slopes of high mountains. Distributed in Zhejiang.

[Functions and indications] Root bark and fruit: Treat inchworms. Leaves: Treats muscle injuries.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat inchworms: 3 to 4 grams of Litsea cubeba fruit and root bark, add 2 to 3 grams of Buddleja root. Decoction in water, take once in the morning and evening on an empty stomach.
