[Source] This product is the dried whole plant of Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai of the Chrysopogonaceae family . Harvest in summer and autumn, remove impurities and dry in the sun.

【Properties】 This product is 50 to 120 cm long. The rhizome is relatively thick and densely covered with fine roots. The stem is cylindrical, much branched, with a diameter of 0.3 to 1.3 cm; the surface is dark green to dark brown, with obvious fine longitudinal lines, scattered longitudinal lenticels, and enlarged nodes; it is brittle and easy to break, with pith or hollow in cross section. The leaves are opposite, ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptical, 5-15cm long and 3-6cm wide; the surface is green, green-brown to brown or brown-red, smooth; the edges are coarsely serrated, the glands at the tips of the teeth are dark brown, the petiole is about 1cm long, and nearly leathery. Inflorescence terminal spike, often branched. It has a slight fragrance and a slightly spicy taste.
