[Original form] Tilia australis tree, 25m high and 1m in diameter. The bark is dark gray and falls off in flakes. The young branches initially have white silky hairs, but quickly become bald. The terminal bud is hairless and has three scales. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are 2-3.5cm long, slender and glabrous; leaves are broadly ovate or ovate, 4.5-6cm long, 4-5.5cm wide, with acute or acuminate apex, cordate base, sometimes truncate, glabrous above, light green below, with tufts of hairs in the vein axils, serrated edges, and tooth tips protruding about 1mm; 4-5 pairs of lateral veins. The cyme is 3-5cm long, slender, glabrous, with 3-20 flowers; the pedicel is 7-10mm long; the bracts are narrowly strap-shaped, 3-7cm long and 5-8mm wide; both sides are glabrous, the lower half or lower 1/3 are fused with the inflorescence stalk, and the base has a stalk 1-1.5cm long; the sepals are broadly lanceolate, 5-6mm long, with stellate soft hairs on the outside; the petals are 6-7mm long; the reduced stamens do not exist; there are about 20 stamens, 5-6mm long; the ovary is hairy, and the style is 5mm long. The fruit is oval, 5-8mm long, covered with star-shaped hairs, with or without obvious ridges. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruiting period is August-September.
