[Original form] Multi-leafed Camellia catechu vine-like shrub, 3-4m high. Branchlets yellow-brown, pubescent. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 3-6mm long, pubescent; stipules are small, lanceolate, fused at the base, and persistent; leaf blades are nearly leathery, shiny, ovate-elliptic, ovate-oblong or elliptic, 1.5-4.5cm long, 0.8-2cm wide, with rounded or obtuse apex, often with a small tip, rounded base, rarely broadly cuneate, glabrous on both sides, dark green above, light green below, often turning yellow after drying; lateral veins are 7-9 pairs on each side, raised. The flowers are light green or white, glabrous, often clustered in 2-10 at the top of the branches, arranged in cymes with short peduncles, up to 7 cm long, with the axis of the inflorescence covered with brown short soft hairs, and the pedicels 2-5 mm long; sepals are 5-lobed, the lobes are ovate-triangular, with pointed tips; there are 5 petals, which are nearly round and shorter than the calyx, and there are 5 stamens. The drupe is cylindrical, 7-9mm long, with a pointed tip, reddish brown when mature, then turning black, with a persistent disk and calyx tube at the base; the fruit pedicel is 3-6mm long. The flowering period is from May to September, and the fruiting period is from July to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillsides, valley thickets or under forests at an altitude of 300-1900m.

【Cultivation】 Biological characteristics: It prefers warm and humid climate. Drought-resistant and slightly cold-resistant. It can be planted in most soils, and humus soil with good drainage is preferred.

【Nature and flavor】 sweet; bitter; cool

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness; detoxifies and resolves stagnation. It is used to treat lung heat cough, lung abscess, damp-heat jaundice, stranguria due to heat, dysentery, leucorrhea, lymphadenitis, carbuncle, furuncle and swelling.
