So cool! China's lunar suit debuts

On the morning of September 28, 2024, China's "Third Space Suit Technology Forum" was held in Chongqing. At the opening ceremony, the China Manned Space Engineering Office launched a naming campaign for lunar suits to the public and unveiled the appearance of China's lunar suits for the first time .

🌕️The main body of the moon suit exudes a metallic luster full of technology. The red decorative belts on the upper and lower limbs enhance the visual sense of power and slimming effect.

🌕️The upper limb decorative belt is designed to be an elegant and flowing "flying" ribbon shape, and the lower limb decorative belt is designed to be a rocket taking off with its tail flame shape, echoing each other from top to bottom to form a soaring momentum.

🌕️The overall design of the costumes draws on the form of traditional armor, which is tough and resolute, demonstrating the solemnity and extraordinary courage of the expedition, and conveying the Chinese nation's pioneering and enterprising spirit and the will to move forward courageously.

As one of the core equipment for future manned lunar exploration missions, the lunar suit is mainly used for life support and operational support for astronauts when they perform extravehicular activities on the lunar surface. It can provide comprehensive protection against complex environments such as the vacuum, high and low temperatures, lunar dust, and radiation environment on the lunar surface. Astronauts wearing the suit can complete extravehicular activities such as walking, climbing, driving, and scientific research on the lunar surface.

It is reported that since the development of the lunar suit started in 2020, it has focused on comprehensive protection in complex environments and improving the capabilities of human suits. With the goals of lightweight, miniaturization, high safety and reliability, it has made breakthroughs in many key technologies and established an overall technical plan, laying a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of my country's first manned lunar mission.
