Changbai Mountain Tianchi is about 2,189 meters above sea level, with an average depth of 213 meters and a maximum depth of 384 meters. The water area is about 9.82 square kilometers and the water volume is about 2.1 billion cubic meters, which is equivalent to 1/10 of the water volume of Dongting Lake.

We can view Tianchi from the west, north and south. The road leading to Tianchi is extremely steep and the road spirals upward. The north slope road is 10.2 kilometers long and has 129 bends, just like climbing to the sky.

Changbai Mountain is located at a high altitude. It is the source of the three major rivers in the northeast: the Songhua River, the Tumen River, and the Yalu River, all of which are near the Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain.

The Songhua River has two major sources. The northern source is the Nenjiang River in the Ilehuli Mountain, a branch of the Greater Khingan Range, which is about 2,309 kilometers long. The southern source is several tributaries at the western and northern foothills of Changbai Mountain, which is about 1,927 kilometers long.

The average flow of the Songhua River is 2,463 cubic meters per second. The Songhua River basin is mainly distributed in Jilin, Inner Mongolia, and Heilongjiang (provinces). It flows into the Heilongjiang (river) near Tongjiang in the Sanjiang Plain. It is the longest tributary of the Heilongjiang River in my country and finally flows into the Sea of ​​Okhotsk in Russia.

The Tumen River originates from the eastern foot of Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain. It is about 500 kilometers long, and most of its main stream is the boundary river between China and North Korea. The Tumen River flows into the vast Sea of ​​Japan, and the last 15 kilometers are the boundary river between North Korea and Russia. In other words, Jilin Province is only 15 kilometers away from the estuary.

The average flow of the Tumen River is 60 cubic meters per second. Although the amount of water is not large, its location is extremely important. The city closest to the sea in Jilin is Hunchun in Yanbian. The crowing of cocks can be heard in the Three Kingdoms and the barking of dogs can be heard in the Three Borders.

The Yalu River originates from the southern foot of Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain and is nearly 800 kilometers long. Most of its main stream is the boundary river between China and North Korea. It flows through Jilin and Liaoning provinces in my country. The Yalu River flows into the Yellow Sea, and its estuary is the easternmost estuary in my country.

The Yalu River has an average flow of 1,040 cubic meters per second. The river has a large drop in water level and abundant water resources, and many reservoirs and hydropower stations have been built.

The estuary of the Songhua River and the Heilongjiang River in the north is about 2,000 kilometers away from the estuary of the Yalu River in the south.
