Recently, according to media reports, Boeing is facing a difficult situation in the field of large aircraft, where it has an advantage. In the first half of 2024, the orders for medium and large aircraft were only 55, about half of the orders of Airbus. Boeing's difficulties are partly attributed to frequent aircraft quality problems in recent years, which have forced many airlines to turn to Airbus for cooperation, resulting in a significant change in the flow of orders. In order to reverse the situation, Boeing will pin its hopes on its flagship product, the 777X large aircraft, which will be launched in 2025. However, its market response and order performance are still shrouded in uncertainty. Recently, Boeing opened the doors of its large aircraft manufacturing plant in Washington State to the public, showing the assembly of six aircraft with a total length of more than 70 meters. The focus was undoubtedly on the latest member of the 777 series, the "777X", which is designed to carry about 400 passengers and heralds a new round of competition for Boeing in the field of large commercial aviation. With the official launch of the flight test on the 13th, witnessed in person by senior officials of the Federal Aviation Administration, it marked that the production of the 777X has entered the sprint stage, with a full effort to sprint towards the delivery target of 2025. However, behind this seemingly positive situation, Boeing is well aware that the shadow of quality issues has not yet completely dissipated. To this end, the company has carried out a fundamental reform of the factory training system, with experienced craftsmen working side by side with novices to implement strict quality control, strive for excellence in every detail, and rebuild the market's confidence in Boeing. Although Boeing has high hopes for the 777X, the reality is quite bleak. In the first half of the year, the total order volume, including the 777X and another important model, the 787, was only 55, in sharp contrast to the 103 orders for the Airbus A350 series. Behind this gap is the long-term delay in the development of the 777X project, with the delivery of the first aircraft delayed by five years from the original plan. At the same time, the 787 model was forced to slow down its production due to quality issues, further affecting the delivery progress to airlines and intensifying Boeing's market pressure.
