But the good news is that the tourism industry is quickly recovering its lost ground. In the first quarter of 2024, the proportion of tourism in GDP has recovered to 5.1%. It also provides jobs, acts as an engine of economic growth, stimulates infrastructure investment, promotes sustainable development, and promotes the protection of cultural and natural heritage. This multifaceted impact shows that tourism is crucial to the development of China's urban and rural economies.
