National Bureau of Statistics: National online retail sales in 2022 will reach 13.79 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4%

The Ministry of Commerce issued a document stating that my country's online retail market will grow steadily overall in 2022. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the national online retail sales in 2022 reached 13.79 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4%. This includes online retail sales of physical goods of 11.96 trillion yuan (a year-on-year increase of 6.2%), accounting for 27.2% of the total retail sales of consumer goods.

In addition, the Ministry of Commerce also pointed out that the national online retail market in 2022 will mainly present the following characteristics:

First, sales of some commodity categories achieved double-digit growth. Among the 18 monitored commodities, sales growth of 8 categories exceeded double digits. Among them, gold, silver and jewelry, tobacco and alcohol increased by 27.3% and 19.1% year-on-year respectively.

Second, the growth rate in the northeast and central regions was relatively fast. Online retail sales in the northeast and central regions increased by 13.2% and 8.7% year-on-year, respectively, 9.2 and 4.7 percentage points higher than the national growth rate, respectively. Online retail sales in the eastern and western regions increased by 3.8% and 3% year-on-year, respectively.

Third, the growth of online retail sales of agricultural products is good. The national rural online retail sales reached 2.17 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Among them, the online retail sales of rural physical goods reached 1.99 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. The national online retail sales of agricultural products reached 531.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%, an increase of 6.4 percentage points from 2021.

Fourth, cross-border e-commerce is developing rapidly. Customs data show that in 2022, my country's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports (including B2B) were 2.11 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. Among them, exports were 1.55 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%, and imports were 0.56 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%.

Fifth, new forms and models of e-commerce have shown vitality. The key monitored e-commerce platforms have accumulated more than 120 million live broadcasts, with more than 1.1 trillion views, more than 95 million live broadcast products, and nearly 1.1 million active anchors. The industries and categories penetrated by instant retail continue to expand, covering more application scenarios, and accelerating the delivery of everything to homes.
