Every year during the Double 11 e-commerce festival, a huge number of orders are generated, which is a huge challenge for e-commerce platforms and the express logistics industry.

According to official information from the State Post Bureau, this year is the 13th peak season for the postal express industry since 2010. Monitoring data from the State Post Bureau shows that from November 1 to 11, postal express companies across the country handled a total of 4.272 billion parcels, with an average daily processing volume of 1.3 times the daily business volume. On November 11, a total of 552 million parcels were processed, 1.8 times the daily business volume.

At present, except for some areas affected by the epidemic, the overall operation of the entire network is relatively stable. The postal and express delivery industry has actively responded to ensure the smooth operation of the peak season and strive to create a safe, smooth and warm peak season.

It is expected that the delivery of mail and express parcels generated during the “Double 11” peak season will be basically completed before November 20.

It is reported that this year's "Double 11" express delivery business peak season mainly presents the following characteristics:

First, the industry is running more smoothly. The "good start" of e-commerce platforms on November 1 further diverted the peak of business volume on "Double 11". The "double peak" of business has become a normal phenomenon in the "Double 11" promotion of e-commerce platforms, effectively alleviating the pressure of the sharp increase in collection and delivery volume of postal express companies during the peak season.

Second, express delivery and e-commerce collaboration have become closer. Through the extensive use of technologies such as big data, e-commerce platforms have further strengthened analysis and judgment, and pre-stored a large number of pre-sale goods in the storage sites and outlets of postal express companies. Postal express companies have targetedly deployed various resources such as transportation capacity and personnel, making the delivery of goods faster and more convenient, and the 48-hour delivery timeliness rate and 72-hour timeliness rate have both increased.

Third, the application of science and technology has become more in-depth. The industry has invested in more than 900 sets of automated processing equipment, and technologies such as "branch housekeepers", smart security checks, and address fences have become more mature. Postal and express delivery companies have vigorously promoted the use of contactless delivery modes such as smart express boxes, and the overall operating efficiency has continued to improve.

Fourth, epidemic prevention measures and smooth traffic are more effective. The State Post Bureau has guided local postal administration departments to strengthen supervision and inspection of enterprises' implementation of epidemic prevention and control requirements, strengthen prevention and control of key links, key places and personnel, and strictly prevent the spread of the epidemic through delivery channels.

At the same time, with the support of various regions, the number of postal express distribution centers and outlets affected by the epidemic has decreased significantly compared with the end of October, and the terminal microcirculation has become more smooth.
