Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery expects Malaysia's e-commerce market sales to increase from RM53 billion in 2013 to RM72 billion by the end of this year, and to reach RM88 billion next year. Ahmad Shabery pointed out that to fully tap the potential of e-commerce, the Malaysian government must address several basic issues, namely broadband connectivity, consumer trust in the e-commerce system and the logistics system. He said that currently only about 70% of households have broadband connections, and the government will continue to work with relevant industry players to ensure that more people can enjoy a wider range of services, more affordable and high-quality services to promote more online activities. He also pointed out that many Malaysians are still conservative when using credit cards for online shopping, but he believes that through education, publicity and legal measures, their doubts can be eliminated. In addition, traditional express delivery services can only transport items to customers more effectively if they continue to improve service efficiency. |
