[Source] Filifolium sibiricum (L.) Kitam. of the Asteraceae family , the whole plant is used as medicine.

【Habitat distribution】 Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Hebei.

[Chemical composition] The whole plant contains 0.3% volatile oil, flavonoids, triterpenoid saponins, acidic components, sugars and polysaccharides.

[Pharmacological action] Antibacterial test: 1. The saturated solution of volatile oil has an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus, Shigella flexneri and Shigella boydii. Low concentration of the solution still has an antibacterial effect on the first three bacteria. 2.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies, has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, calms the nerves and relieves convulsions, regulates menstruation and stops bleeding. It is mainly used to treat high fever caused by infectious diseases. Oral administration has significant effects on heart palpitations, insomnia, and neurasthenia. For external use, it can be used to treat carbuncle, ecthyma (chronic ulcer of lower limb), otitis media and other surgical suppurative infection diseases.

【Usage and Dosage】 5 qian, decocted in water and taken orally. For external use, the whole plant is made into a paste for external application.

[Note] The main side effect is pain during initial application, so it is best to use it in combination with analgesics.

[Remarks] Preparation of Artemisia annua paste: Wash the whole herb, chop it into pieces and boil it in water. Combine the decoctions three times and filter it. Concentrate it into a paste. Store in a sealed container away from light.
