[Source] Medicinal material source: The roots or seeds of Cycas revoluta of the Cycadaceae family.

[Original morphology] The trunk is cylindrical, 4-8m high, rarely up to 15m. There are remnants of petiole on the upper part. Pinnate leaves are 1-2m long, nearly straight, arched at the top, and usually have a short petiole at the bottom of the rachis; pinnate lobes are 50-80 pairs, arranged in 2 rows, long lanceolate strips or strips, slightly curved or straight, 15-30cm long, 1-1.5cm wide, leathery, green, shiny, midrib slightly concave on both sides, or slightly recurved. The male cones have short stalks, are elliptical-oblong, 12-25cm long; the microsporophyll are cuneate, 2.5-5cm long, densely covered with red or brown-red hairs; the megasporophyll is 20-30cm long, pinnate-divided, initially covered with hairs that gradually fall off, with long petioles and 1-3 (rarely 4-6) ovules. The seeds are oblate or oval, sometimes slightly concave at the tip, with a slightly convex tip in the center, and a diameter of 3-4.5cm. The flowering period is from May to June, and the seeds mature in October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Widely cultivated in southern my country, and potted in the Yangtze River Basin.
