[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole leather of the Poaceae plant Gramineae.

[Original form] Drunken horse grass is a perennial herb. The roots are flexible. Culms erect, a few clustered, smooth, 60-100cm high, 2.5-3.5mm in diameter, usually with 3-4 nodes, with adnate fine hairs on nodes, and scale buds at base. The leaf sheath is slightly rough, the upper one is shorter than the internode, and the leaf sheath mouth is finely hairy; the ligule is thick and membranous, about 1mm long, with a flat tip or serrated; the leaf blade is hard in texture, upright, with edges often rolled, and rough on the upper surface and edges. Those grown on the stem are 8-15cm long, and those grown on the base are up to 30cm long and 2-10mm wide. The panicles are densely packed into spikes, 10-25cm long and 1-2.5cm wide. The spikelets are 5-6mm long, gray-green or purple at the base, turning brown-copper when mature. The glumes are membranous, almost equal in length, with the tips often cracked and slightly rough. With 3 veins; the lemma is about 4mm long, densely covered with soft hairs on the back, with 2 teeth at the tip, with 3 veins, the veins merge at the tip and extend into an awn, the awn is 10-13mm long, once geniculate, the awn column is slightly ugly, covered with slight short hairs, the base is obtuse, with short hairs, about 0.5mm long; the palea has 2 veins, covered with soft hairs between the veins; the anther is about 2mm long, with fine hairs at the tip. The caryopsis is cylindrical, about 3mm long. Flowering and fruiting period is July to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: It often grows in alpine grasslands, hillsides, field edges, roadsides and river beaches at an altitude of 1700-4000m.
