【Alias】 Mei Yangdong

[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Euryachinensis R.Br. of the Theaceae family.

[Original form] A small shrub with small rice flowers, up to 1.5m tall. The young branches have two edges and both have short soft hairs as well as the terminal buds. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 2-3mm long; leaf blade is thin leathery, obovate or obovate-elliptical, 2-5.5cm long, 1-2cm wide, short-pointed at the tip, gradually narrowed at the base, and densely serrated at the edge. Flowers are unisexual, dioecious, 1-4 in axillary; flowers are white to yellow-green; sepals are 5, ovate, persistent, and glabrous; male flower bracts are small, petals are obovate, 3-3.5mm long, stamens are about 15, with or without a reduced ovary; female flower petals are ovate, 2-2.5mm long, without stamens, glabrous ovary, style is 1.5-2mm long, and 3 shallowly lobed at the apex. The berries are spherical, about 4mm in diameter, and black when ripe. The flowering period is April, and the fruiting period is July-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in barren mountain grasslands, beside villages, river banks and bushes.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; cool

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, detoxifies and heals sores. Mainly used for sores, swellings, burns, and scalds

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g. For external use: take appropriate amount, decoct in water and wash with; or grind into powder and mix with sesame oil for application.
