[Source] Medicinal material source: The root or stem vine of the Rhamnaceae plant Guluinggouercha.

[Original form] Guling Camellia sinensis is a deciduous vine-like climbing shrub, about 3 meters high, with flat branches, yellow in color, which later turn light brown. Leaves are alternate; petiole 0.6-1.5cm long, glabrous; stipules 2, lanceolate, fused at base; leaf blade ovate-elliptic to ovate-oblong, 2.5-5cm long, 1.2-3.5cm wide, sharp at apex with a small tip, base rounded or nearly cordate, entire or with wavy teeth in the upper half, green above, gray-green below, glabrous on both sides; lateral veins 7-10 pairs, dorsal vein prominent. Flowers are bisexual, usually clustered in 2-3, arranged in sparse cymose racemes, or sparse narrow cymose panicles at the top, 3-5cm long; flower buds are spherical, with a gradually pointed tip; flowers are green, with pedicels 1-2mm long; calyx is 5-lobed, with triangular lobes and very fine ciliates; petals are 5, obovate, smaller than sepals; stamens are 5, the same length as petals and opposite; ovary is separated from disk, 2-chambered, style is thin and short, 2-pronged. The drupe is oblong, 7-9mm long, about 4mm wide, red, purple-black when ripe, and the persistent disk is disc-shaped. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from April to June of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Distributed in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan and Guizhou.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The vine stem is cylindrical, much-branched, yellowish brown or tan, smooth in surface, with raised branch marks, and its base is circular or oval in shape. The texture is extremely hard and difficult to break, the cross section is uneven and thorny and fibrous; there is a small white pith in the center; the essence occupies the majority, is yellow-brown, and the periphery is lighter in color, yellow-white; the cortex is thin and easy to peel off, the inner surface is smooth, and has fine longitudinal lines. No odor, light taste.
