[Source] It is the whole herb of Polygala dasyphylla, a plant of the Polygalaceae family. Harvested in autumn and sun-dried.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 10 to 20 cm high. The main root is conical, thick, yellowish brown and nearly parenchyma. The stem is erect, purple-red, and much-branched. The simple leaves are alternate, oblong, 1-2 cm long, 0.5-0.8 cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, cuneate at the base, and entire; the petiole is short. The small racemes are terminal or axillary; the flowers are small, blue-purple, bilaterally symmetrical, and the petal at the top is tassel-like. The capsule is flat, obovate, about 5 mm in diameter, slightly concave at the tip, with a persistent calyx at the base, a longitudinal groove in the center, and light green; there are 2 seeds inside. Flowering period is early summer.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on sunny hillsides, wastelands and river banks. Distributed in Yunnan.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decocted in water, 3 to 5 qian; or soaked in wine. For external use: mash and apply.
