[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb with roots of Gentiana crimsonii, a plant of the Gentianaceae family.

[Original form] Annual herb, 8-15cm high. The stem is erect, purple-red, unbranched or with a few branches in the middle and upper parts. Basal leaves are clustered, ovate or ovate-elliptic, 10-25mm long and 4-10mm wide; stem leaves are opposite, sparse, often shorter than nodes, ovate-elliptic, oblong or obovate, 4-22mm long and 2-7mm wide. There are several flowers, solitary at the top of the stem, with pedicels purple-red or straw-yellow; calyx is obconical, 8-14mm long, 5-lobed at the apex, and the lobes are filiform or subulate, 3-6mm long; corolla is purple-red, sometimes with short and thin black-purple stripes and spots on the corolla tube, 2-3cm long, ovate in folds, and eroded at the apex; 5 stamens, inserted in the middle of the corolla tube, filaments are filiform, and anthers are narrow and oblong; ovary is elliptical, 5-6.5mm long, stalk is about 8mm long, style is linear, stigma is 2-lobed, and lobes are curled. The capsule is exposed, rarely hidden, oblong, about 8mm long, obtuse at the tip, with wide wings, narrow wings on both sides, and the fruit stalk is relatively thick, up to 3.5mm long. The seeds are brown, shiny, and have a reticulated surface. The flowering period is March and the fruiting period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillside grasslands at an altitude of 500-3300m, wilderness roadsides, stream sides, under forests, rock edges and ravines.
