[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Ramie foetida, a plant of the Urticaceae family.

[Original form] Shrub or small tree, 1.5-3m high. The branches are thick, quadrangular, and sparsely covered with short, rough hairs. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 1-3cm long; stipules are lanceolate; leaf blade is nearly leathery, lanceolate, 12-24cm long, 2-4.8cm wide, with long and gradually pointed tip, rounded base, often slightly asymmetrical, and densely covered with small teeth on the edge; there are 3 obvious basal veins, the upper vein is sunken to form a bubble-like protrusion, and the lower side is sparsely covered with short rough hairs. The flowers are unisexual, composed of cymes forming spikes. The male inflorescences are axillary and shorter than the leaves. The male flowers are about 1.5mm in diameter and clustered. The female inflorescences are shorter than or nearly the same length as the leaves and droop. The female flower clusters are spherical, about 4mm in diameter, densely packed, and have many flowers. Achenes narrowly obovate, about 2 mm long. Flowering and fruiting period is summer and autumn.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillside streams at an altitude of 700-1600m.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; neutral

【Functions and indications】Dissipating stagnation and detoxifying. Mainly used for infantile malnutrition, head sores, and otitis media

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or boil it in water for washing.
