[Source] It is the root bark of the Actinidia sylvestris plant of the Actinidia family.

【Original form】 Vine-like shrub. The stem is cylindrical, dark brown and smooth. The leaves are alternate, broadly lanceolate, 7-10 cm long, 3-4.2 cm wide, gradually pointed or awn-pointed at the apex, cordate or truncated at the base, with sharply serrated edges, glabrous on both sides, dark green above and slightly purple beneath; the petiole is 2-4.5 cm long. Flowers are solitary in leaf axils; there are 4 sepals and petals; there are many stamens; the ovary is superior and the styles are numerous. The berries are oblong, green when young, and contain many seeds. Flowering period is from June to July. Fruiting period is July.

[Habitat distribution] It grows on the steep slopes of semi-shady mountains. Distributed in central and western my country.

[Nature and flavor] Cool in nature, astringent in taste, non-toxic.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and reduces swelling. Treats swelling all over the body, redness and swelling of back carbuncles, and colic caused by intestinal carbuncles.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 liang. For external use: mash and apply.
